Newport Beach & Santa Ana River Mouth Cleanup
Join Forces With Your Friends & Neighbors The Coastal Corridor Alliance is taking the Santa Ana River Coastal Corridor (the tidal influence zone) under our wing to help clean it up and restore the habitats it supports. Join us! You and your community / family are invited to join the Conservancy at Tower 74 in Newport Beach from 9 AM - 11 AM. The Santa Ana River watershed drains the water and waste of three counties at this site. That's the trash and pollution from over 6 million people living in Southern California's largest watershed, which empties in to the Pacific Ocean. Cleaning up our beach reduces pollution from this primary regional waterway. It also helps all our local animal friends including endangered shorebirds, such as CA Least Tern and Western Snowy Plover.

The Basics

Let's hang out and have fun while picking up trash at the Santa Ana River Mouth.

We begin at 9:10 AM with a quick huddle to answer some Q&A and discuss the importance of our waterways, habitats, and fighting pollution.

What to Bring

  • Your family, friends, community, and let's get to work! The more the merrier.
  • A smile
  • A hat, sunscreen, & appropriate clothing / footwear for walking on the beach around trash
  • Gloves and a 5 gallon bucket (Some will be provided)
  • A full, refillable water bottle to stay hydrated
  • An empty bladder: Our site is .3 miles away from the closest restroom (6 min. walk)
  • If you have it: A trash grabber (for trash amongst the rocks), and a sifter (for tiny pieces of styrofoam and plastic in the sand). Better yet, you could buy, bring, and donate a sifter or trash grabber for our monthly events!

Transportation & Parking

Parking can be hard to find, so please ride a bus, bike, or walk if possible.

The closest bus stops are on PCH, Northbound stop 4966 and Southbound stop 4925.

If driving, find free street parking toward the West end of Seashore Dr. (Navigate to Newport Beach Tower 74).

If no street parking is available, pay to park in Parking Lot 1: 7004 Seashore Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92663. This is a 6 min. walk to our site (.3 miles), and next to the closest restroom.

A limited number of travel vouchers can be made available for local residents with transportation barriers. Contact us at Volunteer@CoastalCorridor.org
