Event details

The goal of this National Public Lands Day event is to bring together and connect the public and the BLM to learn how to preserve and protect our Public Lands for us, and for the future.  The Tonopah Field Office for the Bureau of Land Management will be hosting a Recreational Improvement Instillation and Clean Up event located near Tonopah, Nevada. We will be improving recreation opportunities by two factors. One- cleaning up the trash along the Crescent Sand Dunes. Two- installing new picnic tables and fire rings for recreationist to use, which would require some heavy lifting. Water, gloves, trash bags, and some trash grabbers will be provided. We will have a few porta-potties stationed throughout the project area. There will be six activity stations for participants where they can learn about the aspects that go into the BLM’s stewardship of our public lands. From cultural preservation, wild horse and burro management, ecology, recreation, minerals, and many more elements the BLM uses in the facilitation of the land. We will give participants a passport activity book that they can get stamped at each station after completing the learning activity. Once a complete passport is shown the participant will get to choose a small prize*. People of all ages are welcome to participate, for more information you can email kvorheis@blm.gov.
