Invasive species of plants are found in every part of the country. For many National Public Lands Day events, their removal is an important activity that also provides an ideal educational opportunity.
Native plants grow naturally in a region and have developed a healthy relationship with the other plants and animals in the ecosystem, strengthening biodiversity. Invasive plants have been introduced to areas where they do not grow naturally, competing with native plants for needs like space and nutrients.
This Invasive Plants activity guide helps NPLD participants identify invasive and native plants they are working with during activities.
