Spencer Hot Springs Clean Up
The Battle Mountain District (BMDO) for the Bureau of Land Management will be hosting a cleanup event around Spencer Hot Springs located southeast of Austin, Nevada. We are cleaning up the trash and graffiti around the hot springs. There will be a chance to learn about bat boxes, how to make them, why they’re beneficial, and general information about bats! Water, gloves, trash bags, and some trash grabbers will be provided. While there you can chat with the specialists of the BMDO, getting the opportunity to learn what makes our public land special, and what can we do together to protect it!

National Public Lands Day is all about coming together to learn how to preserve and protect our Public Lands for us, and for the future.  The Battle Mountain District (BMDO) for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be hosting a cleanup event around Spencer Hot Springs located southeast of Austin, Nevada. We are cleaning up the trash and graffiti around the hot springs and dismantling some rock fire rings while installing some better fire code approved fire rings as well. This will help elevate the experience visitors have when coming to the site, while protection the natural resources present. Spencer Hot Springs is a place where people go to relax, sightsee, explore the wilderness, or countless other opportunities that public lands have to offer. Stewardship of our land is a share responsibility. During our clean up event, you will be able to talk with the specialists that work for the BMDO, we will even have some educational material you can take home. There will be a chance to learn about bat boxes, how to make them, why they’re beneficial, and general information about bats! Learn what makes Spencer Hot Springs unique, what plants, animals, geology, recreational opportunities, are there and how can we do our part in keeping these lands wonderous, inviting, and full of life. Water, gloves, trash bags, and some trash grabbers will be provided. It is important to note that there are no facilities at this site, and during the event there will be no port-a-potties either.
