The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) safeguards our air, water and land to promote human health. In support of that goal, EPA's Office of Environmental Education aims to develop an environmentally conscious and responsible public. NEEF complements this work by providing grants, resources and volunteer opportunities for environmental education. The EPA also supports NEEF's National Public Lands Day (NPLD) efforts each year by encouraging EPA staff to participate in NPLD events. In 2010, former EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson gave the keynote address at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, a signature NPLD site. In addition, EPA's Indoor Environments Division supports NEEF's Pediatric Asthma Initiative, a long-term project which aims to integrate environmental management of asthma into pediatric medical and nursing education and practice.
