The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is committed to protecting the privacy of our website visitors. Please read this policy to understand what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use the information we collect.

Information Collection and Use

NEEF collects personally identifiable information in the following ways:

  • NEEF collects personal information when you register for our e newsletters.
  • When you send us an email inquiry. 
  • When you indicate your interest in supporting or volunteering for NEEF.
  • When you reigster an event or sign up for an event through NEEF.
  • You provide personal information (name, address, email address, telephone number, and payment information) when you click on the link to DonorBox to make an online donation to NEEF. This database is maintained by DonorBox, but NEEF has access to information in connection with your donation.
  • When you submit a story form.
  • When you submit a photograph or streaming video or content on a NEEF-sponsored webpage.
  • When you complete an entry form for one of our contests.
  • When you participate through SMS text with a NEEF-sponosred initiative.

We may on some occasions use information we collect to inform you of upcoming publications or other marketing material that would serve your interest. We do not sell or share this information with individuals or organizations outside NEEF for any purpose, including marketing or promotional purposes.

Right to Opt Out

You have the right to "opt-out" of certain of our uses of your Personal Information. For example, at the time you are requested to provide Personal Information on this Web Site and/or through our Services, you may have the opportunity to elect to, or not to: (1) receive promotional correspondence from the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) or (2) have your Personal Information shared with other companies or individuals. You may also make this request by sending an e-mail to info@neefusa.org. Please understand that if you opt-out of receiving promotional e-mails or SMS from NEEF, we may still contact you by e-mail or SMS in connection with your account with us or to provide you with important information about NEEF or this Web Site or the Services. Also, a request to have us stop sharing your Personal Information with other companies or individuals will only apply as of the date of the request, and NEEF will not be responsible for any communications that you may receive from companies or individuals that received your Personal Information prior to such request. Our site contains external links to other organizations and websites, and we do not control the use of data collection on external websites. Security

NEEF takes precautions to protect your information. When you submit information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. The computers/servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment. NEEF uses a variety of security measures to secure your data and personal information. NEEF implemented physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to limit the unauthorized access and use of personal information.  NEEF limits employee access to data and personally identifiable information.  NEEF restricts access to data and personally identifiable information to all outside users.  All data transmitted to and from our website, including personally identifiable information, such as name and address, are encrypted using industry standard measures (HTTPS) to provide an additional level of security.

NEEF may use third party companies to collect or store data, such as customer relationship management (CRM) software. NEEF cannot guarantee the total security of information transmitted to us.

Privacy of Donors to NEEF

Donors to NEEF are valued supporters of our work.  We respect their privacy and that of their information.  Donor information is stored on our private instances of DonorBox and Salesforce.  Both third-party applications adhere to the Privacy Shield Principles as set forth by the US Department of Commerce to protect personally identifiable information.  NEEF will not share or sell a donor's personal information, whether submitted online or by other means, with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations without the donor’s permission.  Logos and other information of corporate and foundation donors are only displayed or promoted with permission of a qualified representative.
