The scientific community needs help collecting data over lengthy time periods and wide geographic areas—good thing hundreds of thousands of helping hands from people with an interest in the environment make for light work. People of all ages, abilities, knowledge levels, and skillsets can participate in citizen science (also known as "community science"), gathering data to help scientists, emergency responders, community managers, and more to make groundbreaking discoveries and more informed decision-making.

You can use this infographic to learn about the value of citizen science, as well as examples of opportunities to learn about the planet and the dynamic systems found in and around it while contributing to the base of scientific knowledge.
