The Bureau of Land Management Tucson Field Office and the Friends of Ironwood Forest will be hosting a National Public Lands Day event on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in the Ironwood Forest National Monument. The volunteer workday will be associated with restoration efforts on the Monument. Work would include sign installation, mulching, tread repairs, fence repairs or removal, and dispersed campsite maintenance. Participants will meet at the Marana Regional Airport between 800 am and 830 am and travel to the Ironwood Forest National Monument sites to begin volunteer work at 900 am. Volunteers will be signed up under a BLM volunteer agreement. Volunteers should bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, work gloves, water and snacks. BLM staff will have extra tools and gloves available for use during the project.
