Through national competitions the program also highlights innovations in teaching on the environment. The program also offers an environmental education portal for high school students - Planet Connect.
Earth Gauge increases public knowledge by bringing environmental information into American homes through participating broadcast meteorologists around the nation, in partnership with the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The program's Spanish-language initiative is Calibrando La Tierra.
